We tottered together upon the brink of the fall. I have some knowledge, however, of baritsu, or the Japanese system of wrestling, which has more than once been very useful to me. I slipped through his grip, and he with a horrible scream kicked madly…”

~Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, “The Adventure Of The Empty House”

Baritsu: the martial art of Sherlock Holmes (approximately).

Despite the terminally silly graphic with which our clanks have provided us, Baritsu is a real and serious martial art. Being amateur martial artists ourselves, we are delighted to offer you some basic demonstrations, and a hands-on workshop. Here you will learn some of the basics of the system of grappling and movement, and we will of course, be completely unable to resist, teaching the part where you use canes and parasols.

Depending on how many back up instructors we have on hand, we may need to limit the size of this class a bit. on the other hand, there’s demand, we might do two classes.

Whilst we can’t promise that you’ll work out the entire fight in your head the way Robert Downey, Jr. does; but you never know. Any martial art frequently fought with canes and parasols is a martial art to be respected and/or feared.
