“Beethoven tells you what it’s like to be Beethoven and Mozart tells you what it’s like to be human. Bach tells you what it’s like to be the universe.”

― Douglas Adams

What’s music like for the people who create it?

What’s unusual music (assuming that most music isn’t already unusual)—for unusual people, and how is it made?

We’ve taken the opportunity to bring together a number of our favorite bands and some of our star musicians (but every musician is a star, if not an entire galaxy) and we’re going to have an intimate discussion about the crafting of melody and tone, writing lyrics, and the whole creative process. That’s a lot for any songsmith. Now how do you build the artistic process, which is already considered more than a little bit odd by the rest of society, into the many unusual worlds you find in fandom?

While genres like Steampunk and Goth will feature prominently, we’re fortunate to have artists from a number of different genres, cultures, and fandoms. And we’ll be taking some questions and discussion from the audience, so feel free to bring your own creativity!

(This is also an absolutely lovely chance to catch some of our performing musicians up close and personal, not just up onstage. Get to know them and their work!)

All are welcome!
